Rollercoaster History & Specific Prayer Requests
A big thanks to all my of my family and friends who have walked this rollercoaster with me in the past 10 months. It's amazing to see the sweet support and prayers from all walks of my life.
To those who don't know, or need a refresher...
Last November I had an asthma flair and after a week, the doctor ordered an X-ray, that lead to a CT scan, and then a PET scan. The areas around the cyst lit up, but that can be inflammation, and not necessarily cancer. In January (2025) the cyst was biopsied. It wasn't cancer or an infection! Thank God!!! At that time, we didn't consider surgery, because the risks outweighed the gain. It makes me cough a lot, but it isn't cancer. I was content with that...
But, in due diligence, I had a repeat CT scan in June... Unfortunately, it continued growing. I also found old x-rays from several years ago & I sent the pictures to my pulmonologist. At that point, The same pulmonologist who discouraged the surgery, now said it's is an option, since this cyst has been here a long time and is clearly growing. There are risks to letting it keep pushing up against important areas around the lung, heart veins and trachea. After talking to the surgeon, we found out it's already too late to do it robotically, do to the size and calcified spots, so it will be an open surgery (Thoracotomy) thru my back. I decided to wait to get some projects done over the summer, so I've had 3 months to think about it. I'm a little scared, but I've finally come to the point where I just want to get it over with. I can also tell I'm getting winded quicker in recent weeks.
This cyst is unique in nature due to the many the calcified areas. Please pray specifically that the calcified areas will release better than expected... They appear to be butting up against the lung, superior vena cava and portions of the right brachiocephalic vein, and the trachea.
Areas you don't want to "break through" on accident.
I'm glad I have Christ to help me though this. I've had my moments, but I'm not a mess like I thought I'd be right now! Joel & all of you are pretty amazing to.
