Second night, 1st half of the 3rd day (9-17-25)...a little setback

I let the pain get away from me last night. Though I only awoke 3 times with people coming in, I tried to sleep more, but was unsuccessful because my pain got really sharp... Which lead to my not being able to do deep breaths... After sitting up for 2 hours, the nurse had gotten approved & gave me some meds, including my antibiotic, which got me very nauseous again.... Thankfully, she gave me anti-nauseous meds, and I avoided throwing up... Different pain meds are taking the edge off currently.

My surgeon came in and said I can have one drain tube removed! I'm also going to be moved "upstairs" today, which means, not being in ICU! He thinks I'll be at the hospital till Saturday or Sunday.

I've had at least three nurses say I have the best surgeon and I'm in good hands. Today, the nurse said he doesn't act special, but people come from all over the world to see him. He was a part of a team who invented a procedure to cure esophagus cancer. Before that, it was a death sentence. She said she gets goosebumps just thinking how he has saved so many lives and she works in with him!

That's all good to know. When I told the surgeon my biggest worry was bleeding out, and he said something like, Honestly, we felt the same. Considering the risk, he was very happy with the outcome, and I only had little nicks and they took care of it quick enough to avoid my even needing any extra blood...
